Save 50% (only 1/2 the already low regular Albany Helping Hands Thrift Store regular price)  every Tuesday for Senior Citizens and every Thursday for Armed Forces Veterans.


These special 50 percent off discounts are offered on all store merchandise but can not be combined with other discount or sale prices or offers.   

Seniors: Must be 60 years of age and above.

If you live in the Albany area and have any large items that you would like to donate, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance to schedule a driver.


Albany Helping Hands Thrift Store is run by shelter residents and volunteers.  The Thrift Store is one of our many programs that offer job training.  This program encompasses all thrift store-related activities consistent with planning, sales, maintenance, and purchasing for the successful operation of a retail store.  


Our residents will increase their skill level in retail sales, meeting the public, and how to respond to a customer with respect and provide them with the help and service they need to have a positive shopping experience.


The proceeds from these sales help fund critical community missions, including providing emergency housing and hot meals three times a day, a total of over 60,000 meals a year.

We do NOT accept these items at our Thrift Store

  • Mattresses, pillows, bedding
  • Old tube televisions
  • Pianos
  • Weapons
  • Curtains or blinds
  • Toilets or sinks.
  • Car seat & toys
  • Bike helmets
  • Entertainment centers
  • Hide-a-bed couches or sectionals
  • Chemicals, cleaning supplies, or pesticides
  • Ironing boards
  • Baby furniture
  • Open, partially used, or outdated paint
  • Any item in need of repair
  • Furniture that has damage, including stains, pet damage, hair or containing odors.
  • Furniture that is not solid or real wood.
  • Electric mobility chairs that are not functional or in excellent condition. Must have all charging supplies. 
  • Hanging lights or light fixtures that require installing (hard wired), including fluorescent lights or chandeliers.


When you patronize an Albany Helping Hands business, you are responding with help to those in our community who are experiencing homelessness and are food insecure. 


Funds generated through Albany Helping Hands Thrift Store go towards providing shelter, meals, and other essential services to those in need.  – THANK YOU.
